I hope each of you had a fun, but little” Easter vacation. I saw on television and on several church yards, the children finding eggs, and I think many merchants in our stores were smiling at their profits in cards, candy and flowers. I really do hope you got to church on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Because Easter and days before it are Holy Days. Jesus had dinner and the first Holy Communion with his friends on Thursday. He was arrested for nothing he had done, suffered much physical pain during torture, and finally was nailed to the cross and died on Friday. Then, on Easter He rose from death, and for all this, He forgave all of our sins. The only thing left for you to do is accept who He and his father, God, are. You also have to admit you are a sinner too. Then, you’ll be joining our big family!
I don’t believe Easter is the right word to call all of that, do you? I think the suffering Jesus took and his rising from death need a better word than Easter to describe it. Friday was an awful day for the Son Of God. don’t you think? To think that He did all of that just to forgive all your sins is enough, but He forgave all of my sins too, And he forgave everybody in the whole world if they would only come to Him.
As He hung there on the cross, He talked a little, He said, “Forgive them, for they know not what they are doing,” He also said, “I thirst,” “My God, why have you deserted me?”, and ,turning to his friend said “see your mother”, then, turning to his own mother said, “your son.” But, when He was just about dying, He said, loud and clear, “IT IS FINISHED! Remember, while He was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, He said, “Father, it’s not my will, but yours.” He went through the whole thing, having the thought, this is for the people, you and I and a whole bunch of other folks. And when all was done, and nothing to do but die. He had to tell the world He was successful. He looked me and you in the eye and said, “It is finished.” and it was.
Anyhow, that’s what I’d call Easter, It is finished,
Wow, what a wonderful thought. Thank you for sharing. You are right, because of his work that day, it is finished.
