“For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus” Galations, 3″26
We are completely filled up with the slogan “Black Lives matter”. Every day we see thousands of people marching with signs that tell us that. I wonder, do they believe that Brown, Yellow and White people just don’t matter?
How much do we who follow Jesus believe? Do we matter to God? Do I count for anything? Whether we are black, brown, white or whatever, we matter to God. But do we pray or trust Him as much as we should? Do we read the Bible at all or as little as possible? As we watch the people marching, Do we tell people or carry signs that read “Christian Lives do matter to God. Sometimes I wonder if we would walk down the streets carrying that sign.
I think our faith is, for the most part, weak. When I think of my own faith, I think of the story in Joshua, the 6th chapter. God had told Joshua how they could take the city, and now he had to tell the people of Israel. He said, “We will march around the wall of the city for seven days quietly and on the seventh day we will give a loud shout and the walls will fall down, and we will take the city.” The people believed God and Joshua and did exactly that and the walls of the city fell down. That took real faith, wouldn’t you agree?
The people inside the city probably laughed and wondered what in the world are those folks doing anyhow. But the people of Israel had lots of faith and surely knew they mattered to God.
Shouldn’t we have the faith to know that God does not change and follow what He has told us, to love God always, to pray, to read His word, the Bible, and to have love for our fellow man. God does always love us and we can be sure that we matter to God. We have to be sure that God matters to us.
You make a good point. Yes lives matter but to whom? It’s the whom that makes us matter but we don’t hear that part much.
