Could you Be A Prophet?

I have been studying the book of Jeremiah lately. He was asked by God to do just as He told Him, and Wow, did He tell them frightful things to do! The people of Judah would do everything evil. God even exiled them to foreign countries and there they lived immoral lives It was that way though the whole book. Jeremiah cried a lot but he still wrote the book, telling US about the evil and the good things those people would do.We should read his book. He was God’s prophet and what God wanted he did. I don’t believe enough of us listen for God to speak. there seems to be so little places of quietness and calm around us these days.

I wonder if we aren’t like the people of Judah. Oh some of the things don’t match the way we live today, but we are guilty of some of them. We love our cars, homes and money more than the things of God, don’t we? That’s worship isn’t it? We do have prophets today but they don’t tell us awful things like Jeremiah did. They always like to tell us what we want to hear. The Bible tells us that if we are still, we will hear Him, or if we draw near to Him He will draw near to us. Maybe we don’t draw near enough to hear Him. If we did , we could perhaps make a difference in this old troubled world we live in. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have heard Him, and even written a book about hearing God. And then telling people what He said. You would be then, a Prophet!

I think, at least we should get away from the everyday sounds of life, draw near to God and listen. You might hear Him speak, and you could at least tell your neighbor or somebody, couldn’t you?

It’s A Matter Of Choice

I have been watching, on television, many young women dancing and walking around stunning rooms in their gorgeous and expensive gowns. They were celebrating Christmas as they thought it should be celebrated. And I thought what if Mary had entered the story of Christmas dressed like that, walking in on a red carpet and waving her diamond rings to an adoring crowd. We wouldn’t fit into her life at all. Would we?

No. God had it all planned as He would have it. Mary was a young teenager, lying in her bed one night when the angel came to tell her she would soon have a baby boy! She must have been shocked, but she said, “I have not even seen a man!” But she went on to say she was a servant of the Lord and so let it be as you have said.

When she entered Bethlehem, she was wearing a maternity dress, and she was riding on the back of a mule! No one gave her a place to stay except one man who let her stay with the animals in a cave! But why? God is always the one to plan things right. Yes,He wanted even the poorest child to find Him and knew that baby would eventually die for everyone, poor, rich, old or a little tiny baby in his mother’s womb. God was right!

God still works like that. He will stop the virus as quickly as we decide to get along with each other and as soon as we decide who will be our president. Maybe it’s best to do His will. It will be His will anyhow. The very best of the rest of our Christmas season to you and your family.
