Be A Winner

There are a lot of young men and women who just arrived home without a medal from the Olympics, aren’t there? some got right to work saying, “I learned so much! I’ll be ready for the next time. Some gave up their training and went on with life without it. But a few went home with a medal. They came home winners and faced all those TV interviews with joy. Did they quit? No, they kept on with their training, saying, “I will never be perfect but it’s loads of fun trying”.

I watched a Little League game on TV the other day. I looked at all the young players, but one young man struck my mind. He had the appearance of a winner. Although he was only a left field player, he had the look of a pitcher hoping to strike the other guy out. He would do anything to win this game. That was the face of a winner. His side did win the game too,. The boy’s face was the happiest face in the group.

Let’s think about the adults for a bit. Do you go to work and think mostly about what you can do after you can get home. I remember my first job.I was working in a lawyer’s office. I had a date one night so I went to work with my hair up in curlers! I got fired that day. I sure wasn’t thinking like a winner.! Being young doesn’t excuse me, I was 18 and should have know”n better. I did learn an important lesson: If my job in a lawyers office was important enough, I should look the part. And that goes for any job you are hired to work for,

Yup, you and I can be a winner, thank goodness! And it’s all because of Jesus bearing the beating and finally dying on the cross taking our sins with Him. And then, He rose from the dead! It worries me sometimes. I see too many people who don;t seem to care about where they will be once they die. They probably don’t know how terrible hell is and we, the people, don’t tell them often enough. I would think all of us who know, would look into the eyes of your best friend who didn’t know about Jesus, and tell him the good news. Now, you would be a winner and you have made it possible for your friend to be one too.

Try to be a winner! Let us just tell someone the good news. people should at least know about it. Tell them what hell is like too. Just think how wonderful it feels to be a winner!

Father Knows Best

Isn’t it nice to watch a young father playing out in a yard with his children? Or a dad carrying his sleeping child from the car and into the house is another scene I watched a while ago. More and more we are seeing dads and their children playing happily together. However, there is another picture of fathers, those who have no time at all with their children. They barely look at a little boy’s report card or something he has made all on his own. When I look back in time I see a little girl with her piano book, wanting her daddy to give her a piano lesson. I went through two grades of piano by myself. I am thankful that he bought me each graded book, but he never gave me piano lessons.

I know that at the time I was little, dads didn’t spend much time with the family. But he knew best on every decision that was brought up. My dad spent almost no time with my brother and me. It really wasn’t his fault because he was the pastor of three churches and so was barely home at all.

Let me introduce you to your Father. He is always there, night or day. He wants to answer any problem you have. He started this world, its mountains, oceans and all things like trees, green grass, oh just everything! Best of all, He loves you. Even the worst criminal, he loves and wants him to love him too.

If you knew Him you would feel someone was there listening to you. That someone is your Heavenly Father, and isn’t it great to have God to talk with when you are all alone? Oh, but I wish every one of you knew Him. You can, you know. All you have to do is quietly ask him. He wants you, he really does. And, Father knows best.
