My Gift

My Gift from the neighborsI was just sitting in my family room alone. I think I was feeling sorry for myself. It was Saturday and I thought maybe one of the girls would be here. My daughters both work so weekends are The only time I expect them. Shouldn’t I remember that they need to balance their time off between cleaning things that were left during the week and their own kids? But here I was, feeling sorry for myself!

I didn’t often feel that way. How could I? The people who were caught in those awful hurricanes are asking themselves, “How can we ever start over again?” And Those folks who attended that concert in Las Vegas will probably never be the same after the shooting. Our country is really messed up! My little pity party doesn’t amount to much, does it?

Someone was knocking at my door! Who could it be? I answered, and there stood my neighbor and her two little children looking up at me. The Mother was carrying a fall looking mum plant and a fall looking little guy was holding the plant up! There was also a fall looking kitchen towel. She said, ” We wanted to give you this.”

I don’t remember what I said but I know I invited them into the house and I thanked them over and over. I can’t figure out why they did that, but I do know that God nudged them a little. He does things like that even for me and my loneliness! I am so thankful for that mom and her two little kids. Now, what can I do for them?

Maybe It’s Today!

Jesus might come today. He certainly could! The Bible tells us that we don’t know the day or the hour. Jesus tells us that even He doesn’t know, but the Heavenly Father knows. Why is it, then, that so many people were talking about September twenty third? Even those who didn’t know anything about the Bible, spouted out about all the hurricanes and the earthquake in Mexico were signs that our world would end the twenty-third!

The religious prophets had it all written out, but they forgot that only God knows when the world would end. They seemed to forget that even if you don’t believe in the Rapture, there is life after Jesus returns. How about the antichrist ruling from the temple at Jerusalem? Many things in the Bible have yet to be, before the world ends.

I want to tell you a story my son told me, only I,ll use names to make the story easier to understand. Jerry knew for certain that the world would end the twenty-third. He had studied all the signs so there wasn’t a doubt! One day Rob contacted him, trying to set up a time they could get together. “We had better meet on the twenty-second then,” Rob said. “No,” answered Jerry, “let’s meet on Monday, the twenty-fifth, that would be better for me.” He evidently wasn’t that certain about the date, was he?

I guess that starts us thinking, doesn’t it? We don’t know the day or the hour, but we should all be ready. We should believe in Jesus death and resurrection, and in God’s love. Then we should ask for forgiveness of all our sins. and forgive anyone we have hurt. That is all. If you do that , you are saved from all tribulation and hell. Boy! I sure would say, that’s really worth it, wouldn’t you?
