I was chosen to speak at a Bible camp one day. I think I was about ten years old. I had never done such a thing before. I read a poem before that day that went something like this: “I believe Jesus will help me, so I will do”.And I went ahead with the speech. Kids, and even teachers told me I had done really good! They didn’t know I had a helper.
Since that time I have found this poem in many books, I don’t know who wrote it , but in all the books I have read this poem, it says,” Anonymous” at the bottom. And each time I have wished I knew that person. Anyhow, I give it now to you. I hope it means as much to you as it means to me.
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done, but he with a chuckle replied, that maybe it couldn’t but he would be one, who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the face of a grin on his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing, that couldn’t be done. And he did it.
Somebody scoffed: “Oh you’ll never do that, At least no one ever has done it.” But he took off his coat and took off his hat, and the first thing he knew, he’d begun it.
With the lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, if any doubt rose he forbid it, He started to sing as he tackled the thing that couldn’t be done , and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done , there are thousands to prophesy failure. There are thousands to point out to you one by one, the dangers that wait to assail you.
But buckle right in, with a bit of a grin, and you’ll do it!
Galatians 6: 9 says: Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
I think all of us have faced some problem and said to yourself, “I can’t do that!” Maybe it’s time for you to buckle right down and do it. But first, ask your friend, Jesus, to help you. He will, you know.
