Did I Vote?

I remember when I was a little girl on voting day. Daddy said I could go along when he went to vote. I was excited because our little town had really prepared for voting day. Plastic ribbons of red, white and blue were put up all over town along with many American flags.

The day finally came. I took Daddy’s hand and we marched together up to the fire hall where the voting took place. There were several people standing waiting for their turn at the table where they could vote. Everyone looked as excited as I felt. Finally, it was Daddy’s turn to go up to the table and vote. I couldn’t go with him. I felt bad about that. Every person there was quiet and they appeared like they were accomplishing something great! When we were walking home Daddy talked to me about what a great country we had and how important voting is.He said if we ever quit voting we would lose everything like freedom of speech, education, worship and so many other things. We arrived home and Mama had our table decorated with red, white and blue tissue banners. We had a special meal!

I wish voting were like that now.. We don’t make it a special day at all. Certainly they don’t decorate the city for voting day. I’m sorry, but we get our ballots in the mail, fill it out and mail it back. That doesn’t sound very exciting does it? I found out mail in voting doesn’t work very well. Voting this year is awful! They have found ballots in trash cans and everywhere. Ballots have been found in postal automobiles and in ditches. Who knows if you have voted, or maybe you have voted several times! November 3 was the day we were to vote. It is now November 17 and we still don’t know who our president is.

I believe we are in real danger of losing many of our freedoms if they don’t figure it out soon. I also believe we must pray as never before. Our prayers will meet God’s ears, we can be sure. And. He knows who and how these bad things are happening. Do you agree with me?
