Do You Have Any Junk?

A man from one of the poorer countries in the East was watching a group of children pushing some rusty cans down the street with sticks. He smiled as one little boy couldn’t make his can go straight so he was going much slower than the rest. As he sat there a plan began forming in his head. He planned all night and in the morning he went out to the dump. He took some of the rusty old pieces of metal home with him and began to work.

He made a cello out of an old boiler, a horn out of several pieces from an old car and drums came from wagon wheels. He made enough instruments so that each child would have one. He then called all of the children and told them of his plan. After handing out the instruments, he had the brief thought that he had made a mistake. the kids were really making a racket banging or tooting a horn, but after explaining to them he would teach them and someday they would be a band, they were excited.

Every morning the children went over to the man’s house and practiced on their “instruments. One day, the man said,”You are now a band”. He took them outdoors and the band marched down the street! The people of the village couldn’t believe it and called it “The trash band”. They traveled to many places and were popular with the people wherever they went.

Don’t we all have some trash we would like to give up? How about gossiping or even lying? Or perhaps you drink way too much or maybe you are too rough on the kids.Perhaps you have forgotten to read the Bible or you are spending too little time in prayer. If you throw away some of your trash, you will find something beautiful has appeared in your life. You will never regret throwing away your trash.
